One of the most common scenes we see in the clinic happens right after a first-time Botox session. A patient gets up from the chair, walks to the mirror, looks closely, then says: “Doctor… I don’t see anything.” This happens because many people expect Botox or Dysport to behave like filler — immediate results. But Botox doesn’t work like that. Botox is Gradual, Not Instant Botox and Dysport need time to work. For some people, the effect begins within a few hours. For
others, real change starts around day 3–5. A small group only sees results around day 10–14. All of this is normal. Some patients even call the clinic on day 3 saying there’s no result, then return on day 14 amazed by the improvement.
Every Muscle Responds Differently
Some muscles respond quickly, others slowly. Even the left and right sides of the face can react at different speeds. Dysport may start a little earlier, Botox may last a bit longer — all normal variations.
Why We Start with a Safe Dose
For first-time patients, we always use a safe, conservative dose. This avoids heaviness or frozen expressions. After 14 days, if needed, we adjust with a touch-up. This approach is safer and more natural. “Heaviness” Without Drooping Some people say their eyes feel heavy even when the movement is normal. This is just the brain adjusting to using the forehead less aggressively. It’s temporary.
Botox Is About Prevention
Botox doesn’t erase deep lines instantly. But it prevents them from getting worse. With time, fine lines soften, and the face looks less tired and less angry.
Expectations Matter When patients understand:

– Botox is mainly preventive,
– and we start safely…
they enjoy the treatment much more. The moment they look in the mirror on day 14 and say: “Why didn’t I do this earlier?” is always worth it.
